Panther Coaching Staff

Matt Haynes

Matt has over 20 years of experience coaching youth sports. He is currently a weight training teacher at Ft. Zumwalt West High School and has been in education for over 15 years. He is currently a training coach at NoCoast Volleyball Training Collective and a head coach at NoCoast Volleyball Club with over 6 years experience coaching club volleyball in the St. Louis area. He is also the former varsity boys volleyball coach (5 years) and varsity girls volleyball coach (4 years) at Ft. Zumwalt West. His coaching philosophy is to help an athlete develop a love and appreciation for the game of volleyball.  The most enjoyable part of coaching is seeing an athlete maximize their talent and achieve success in the sport they love.

Matt also currently serves as the minister for the West End church of Christ.  In his spare time, he enjoys studying the Bible, lifting weights and spending time with his wife, Michelle, and their three daughters.

Michelle Haynes

Michelle has been coaching volleyball for the Panthers since 2019. Prior to that, she was the head girls' volleyball coach at Ft Zumwalt West High school. She has over 15 years of experience coaching multiple youth sports - including volleyball, basketball, and track. She is currently a training coach at NoCoast Volleyball Training Collective and a head coach at NoCoast Volleyball Club with over 6 years experience coaching club volleyball in the St. Louis area. She played collegiate volleyball for the University of Alabama where she earned her degree in Secondary Education. She also has a degree in Physical Therapy and has worked for a local hospital for 15 years. She currently homeschools her three daughters .

Her coaching philosophy is to teach and improve skill while helping the athlete learn to love the game!  Volleyball is the ultimate teamwork sport and she emphasizes the importance of being a good teammate. The most enjoyable part of coaching is seeing an athlete smile when they apply a new skill successfully.  Michelle is actively involved with the youth group and teaching youth classes at West End church of Christ, where her husband, Matt, serves as the minister.

Rebecca Brookman

Rebecca has been part of the Panthers family for many years—even before she stepped on the court as a player, she grew up on the sidelines cheering on her sisters and falling in love with the game. With 8 years of experience as a middle and outside hitter, she earned an All-Tournament Award and developed a deep passion for volleyball.

Now in her third year of coaching, Rebecca is passionate about helping players grow in their faith in Christ, develop their skills, and build lasting confidence on and off the court. Outside of volleyball, she works as a postpartum Nurse Tech at Missouri Baptist and enjoys staying active through fitness and outdoor adventures. She’s excited to pour into the next generation of Panthers with purpose, heart, and joy.

Christian Wagan

Christian has coached volleyball both at the high school level and the collegiate level in the St. Louis area. He has over 14 years of club coaching experience club and is currently the co-owner of NoCoast Volleyball Training Collective and NoCoast Volleyball Club. He started No Coast Volleyball Training Collective to provide a space for athletes to grow with confidence, train with purpose, and compete with joy. He is driven by the why behind each player’s journey - the spark that fuels their hustle, their dreams, and their love for the game. From the grassroots, to the elite, he coaches with intention, leads with his heart, and pushes for progress both on and off the court.

Natalie Witt

Natalie is a dedicated volleyball coach with a passion for the sport. With ten years of playing experience, she graduated from Panther's in 2022 and has been coaching both recreational and club volleyball teams since then. She has played in nearly all positions on the court, which gives her a well-rounded understanding of the game.

For Natalie, mental toughness is a crucial component of being a skilled player, and she prioritizes instilling this quality in each of her teams. She believes that a player's mentality is just as important as their physical abilities when it comes to succeeding in the sport. Natalie loves seeing her teams improve and work towards their full potential, and her coaching style reflects this.

Beyond coaching, Natalie enjoys several hobbies that complement her passion for volleyball. She loves playing sand volleyball, which provides a different experience and set of challenges from indoor play. She also enjoys long-distance running and strength training, which help her maintain her own physical fitness and serve as inspiration for her players.
